FRONT BAR PRESS - Sit with your back straight and hold the bar with an overhand grip resting it across the upper chest, inhale and extend the bar vertically. Exhale at the end of the movement.
- This fundamental exercise mainly uses the anterior and lateral deltoids, clavicular head of the pectoralis major, trapezius, triceps brachii and serratus anterior.
- You can also perform this exercise standing as long as you keep your back straight, avoiding excessive curvature of the lumbar spine. Extending the bar with the elbows forward isolates the anterior deltoid much more. Extending the bar with the elbows spread apart isolates the outer deltoids.
- There are various machines (such as the a href="http://www.hipower-gym.com/en/strength/shoulder-press/X090">X090, XC090, XDC095) that allow you to do this exercise without too much effort regarding posture, and allowing you to work the deltoids.
